If you are close to a person with narcolepsy, the best thing you can do is make sure that the person knows you are there for them.
- Start a dialogue with them about their condition, be gentle and allow them as much time as they need to speak without judgement.
- Try to be positive without being patronising. Being flexible with plans and considering their needs are enough to make a person with narcolepsy feel supported.
- Learning as much as you can about narcolepsy will also help you to understand what they are feeling.
